Eclipse Foundation Selects Palamida Software

Open Source Foundation Adopts IP Amplifier To Review Contributed Open Source Software

Palamida, a provider of software intellectual property (IP) management services,  announced the Eclipse Foundation’s purchase of Palamida IP Amplifier. Eclipse uses IP Amplifier to review software submitted by project members as part of the Eclipse development process and to validate its compliance with the software licensing requirements of the Eclipse Foundation.

The Eclipse Foundation coordinates the work of a large community of open source developers. As part of this process, there is a core requirement to evaluate the intellectual property ownership of contributed software on an on-going basis.

“Companies worldwide are utilizing open source projects developed by the Eclipse community, and many ISVs base their products on Eclipse technologies,” said Mike Milinkovich, executive director of the Eclipse Foundation. “For our community it is essential that we maintain the highest standards of IP due diligence.”

IP Amplifier compares software code to a database of more than 100,000 open source projects, the largest such library assembled for this purpose, and reports on the open source content identified, as well as associated licenses and other relevant data. Eclipse projects are among those included in the Palamida Compliance Library.

“The Eclipse Foundation is taking important steps toward increasing developer productivity,” said Mark Tolliver, Palamida CEO. “Part of this effort entails working with its community of developers to streamline software license compliance issues. We’re proud to have been chosen by Eclipse to provide our solution for this distinguished group of developers.”
